Ski Boot Buckle Design and Engineering
Johnston Engineering helped design and deliver a hinged buckle system for tightening ski boots straps for our client Clever Lever.
Clever Lever is designed to allow skiers to easily tighten their buckles to the right position by using the leverage of a hinged buckle. Its patented design uses the basic concept of leverage to assist the process of buckling ski boots.

Johnston Engineering provided mechanical engineering design, structural analysis, component sourcing, build and testing to take this project from a concept sketch to a fully functioning device available for purchase.

3D CAD files were generated in SOLIDWORKS and reviewed with Clever Lever to ensure the proper design intent was met. Drawings were generated, and all machined parts were fabricated by a local machine shop. The components were assembled and tested.
