We are seeking an experienced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer who shares these values and is committed to delivering high-quality work..

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled CFD Engineer with 10+ years of experience in computational fluid dynamics, particularly using ANSYS software. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in setting up, running, and post-processing fluid simulations..

Responsibilities:

• Conduct CFD simulations with ANSYS, including:
• Steady state and transient simulations
• Moving mesh studies.
• Multi-phase flows (boiling, condensation, entrained solids).
• Chemical reaction modeling.
• Turbulence modeling.
• Interpret and analyze simulation results to provide actionable insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate simulation results into design iterations.
• Hardware modification suggestions based on study results. SolidWorks modeling experience (preferred).
• Perform thermal and structural finite element analysis (FEA) as needed.
• Document methods, assumptions, and results in detailed technical reports.
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in CFD with ANSYS software.
• Strong expertise in fluid flow, heat transfer, and advanced physics modeling.
• Some experience designing mechanical components and systems in 3D CAD.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work full-time, in-office, in Spokane, WA. This is not a remote position. 

Preferred Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in thermal and structural FEA with ANSYS software.
• Ability to set up and analyze studies involving moving meshes, multi-phase flow, combustion and chemical reactions.
• Experience in developing custom thermal and fluid system models for energy, carbon capture, or hydrogen applications.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including the design of machined parts, weldments, and sheet metal components.
• Hands-on prototype assembly and testing experience.

Job Type: Full-Time, in-office (non-remote)

Schedule: 9 hours days, Monday - Friday, with every other Friday off. We work a hybrid “9/80 schedule”: 9-hour day schedule on a two 2-week cycle. Monday - Thursday are 9-hour days with Friday being an 8-hour day. Then the following Friday is an “off Friday” for an additional 26 non-working days per year.

About the Role: 

We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and resourceful Business Development Representative (BD Rep) to join our growing team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys research, data analysis, and identifying new business opportunities in cutting-edge industries. You will play a critical role in generating and nurturing early-stage leads, ensuring Johnston Engineering connects with the right companies at the right time.

This role is focused on the Suspect and Prospect stages of our lead pipeline, meaning you’ll be responsible for identifying potential clients and initiating outreach. Once a meaningful conversation about a potential project begins, you’ll hand off the lead to the Business Development Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Identification & Research (Suspecting)

• Research and identify companies that could benefit from Johnston Engineering’s expertise based on industry fit, funding raised, R&D stage, and company size.
• Maintain and update our CRM system with company details, outreach efforts, and relevant industry insights.
• Stay up to date on industry trends, funding rounds, and new startups in relevant sectors.

Prospecting & Outreach

• Conduct outreach via email, LinkedIn, and other platforms to introduce Johnston Engineering and generate interest.
• Customize outreach messaging based on research to improve engagement.
• Track responses and interactions to optimize outreach strategies.
• Coordinate follow-ups and handoffs to the BD Manager when a lead becomes interested in discussing a project.

Sales Support & Meeting Preparation

• Prepare meeting briefs with background information on potential clients, their challenges, and how Johnston Engineering can help.
• Assist in developing outreach campaigns and refining prospecting strategies.
• Organize CRM data and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform business development strategies.

• Prior experience in sales research, business development, or market analysis is preferred but not required.
